Electoral Fraud Allegations: Rahul Gandhi Claims Modi's Victory Through "Vote Theft" in Indian Elections

Rahul Gandhi intensifies allegations of systematic voter fraud against BJP, claiming 25 lakh fake votes in Haryana elections including use of a Brazilian model's photo in voter lists. Gandhi warns of similar tactics in upcoming Bihar elections while BJP dismisses claims as deliberate falsehoods designed to undermine democratic institutions.

New Delhi:

Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has intensified his "vote theft" accusations against the BJP, claiming that Narendra Modi ascended to the Prime Minister position through stolen votes. These serious allegations follow what he described as a "hydrogen bomb" of voting fraud claims in last year's Haryana assembly elections.

"We possess substantial evidence and will continue this process. We will clearly demonstrate to India's Gen Z and youth that Narendra Modi became Prime Minister through 'chunav chori' (vote theft) and that the BJP engages in electoral fraud. We will clarify everything, leaving no room for doubt," the Congress leader stated during a press briefing this morning.

The BJP dismissed these allegations as "falsehoods."

On Wednesday, Gandhi alleged that 25 lakh votes out of two crore voters were fraudulently manipulated during the Haryana elections. Presenting his findings, he explained: "This means one in eight voters in Haryana is fake, amounting to 12.5%." His accusations included evidence showing a Brazilian model's photograph being used in 22 separate entries in the Haryana voter list.

Questioning the Election Commission's lack of response, the MP asked how voting could occur using a Brazilian national's photo.

"I demonstrated that the Haryana elections were not legitimate elections at all. A 'wholesale chori' took place there. Yet the EC provided no response to my allegations regarding fake votes and photographs. The BJP defends this without addressing my specific claims. The media focuses on isolated examples, like a Brazilian woman's image being used for voting," he stated.

Gandhi further accused the BJP leadership and the Election Commission of undermining the Constitution. He warned that the BJP would implement similar 'vote theft' tactics in Bihar during ongoing elections.

"The reality is that Narendra Modi ji, Amit Shah ji, and the EC are collectively attacking the Constitution. The Constitution establishes 'one person, one vote.' The Haryana situation reveals it wasn't 'one person, one vote' but rather 'one person, multiple votes'...They will replicate this in Bihar. It occurred in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Gujarat. This represents the fundamental issue," the Congress MP added.

Responding to these allegations, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari characterized Gandhi as a "threat" to the Constitution.

"Rahul Gandhi poses a danger to Indian Democracy. He threatens the Indian Constitution. He deliberately fabricates falsehoods to create democratic deficit," Bhandari stated.

The Brazilian Connection

The photograph of the Brazilian citizen shared by Gandhi belongs to Larissa Nery, a hairdresser. She had posed for a photographer friend eight years ago when she was just 20, unaware that her image would become central to a major political controversy in a distant country.

Speaking with NDTV, Nery revealed she initially considered it a "bad joke" but became frightened upon understanding the controversy's scope.

"Initially, I found it amusing when I saw the video featuring my picture in the background. However, upon comprehending the situation, I became alarmed. Now I'm uncertain about what action to take because I don't know how people are using my image. I simply cannot understand these memes created with my photo, as I'm unfamiliar with the language," Larissa told NDTV.
