Imphal:
Manipur BJP MLA L Rameshwor Meetei declared on Thursday that if the Centre cannot establish a government in the state, new elections should be held.
He cautioned that the party's standing in Manipur might deteriorate if a government is not formed soon.
During comments to reporters at a program event, the Keirao MLA stated, "There are like-minded BJP legislators among us who have selected Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata to lead in government formation. We are also ready to inform the governor to stake claim for forming the government, but have been awaiting an opportune moment." He additionally mentioned that lawmakers from both hill and valley regions are prepared to establish the government.
Meetei further commented, "I believe if the government is not formed in November, the party's position will become unfavorable. If a government cannot be established, new elections should be conducted."
