Auto-rickshaw Driver Arrested for Murdering Pregnant Live-In Partner Over Financial Disputes in Gurugram

The auto-rickshaw driver locked the victim in their rented accommodation before fleeing the scene.

An auto-rickshaw driver has been apprehended by police for allegedly murdering his pregnant live-in partner by strangulation following disputes over money needed for pregnancy-related expenses, authorities announced on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as 28-year-old Angoori, originally from Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. Her body, which was in a state of decomposition, was discovered in her rented accommodation in Dundahera village on Wednesday. Police confirmed she was seven months into her pregnancy.

The suspect, 30-year-old Anuj, was taken into custody. During questioning, he admitted to police that they had engaged in a financial disagreement on October 31, which culminated in him strangling Angoori to death with his bare hands.

Following the murder, he secured the rented room and escaped from the location.

The investigation revealed that Angoori had married Muhammad Sadruddin in 2023. Shortly thereafter, she began living separately from her spouse and entered into a court marriage with Vishal in 2024, according to police statements.

After separating from Vishal, Angoori maintained contact with Anuj, who made regular visits to her rented accommodation, which subsequently resulted in her pregnancy, police reported.

The investigation continues, authorities added.

Yadav was located at his hometown in Jharkhand through his mobile phone number and was issued a notice to present himself before law enforcement officials.
