Delhi Police conducted extensive raids on Thursday at criminal hideouts across Delhi and Haryana, resulting in three arrests, including the father of imprisoned gangster Neeraj Bawana.
The operation also led to the detention of 36 habitual offenders across the National Capital Region.
During the raids, authorities seized Rs 49.6 lakh in cash, 1.36 kilograms of gold, 14.6 kilograms of silver, a bulletproof Scorpio SUV, a motorcycle, 27 mobile phones, a laptop, seven pistols (both country-made and sophisticated), a revolver, 40 live cartridges, three bore brushes, two cleaning rods, and a button-actuated knife.
The coordinated operation involved 39 teams from the Outer North district with 500 personnel and 19 teams from Rohini district with 320 personnel. They targeted 58 locations across Delhi, Sonipat, Sampla, Jhajjar, Rohtak, and Bahadurgarh.
Joint Commissioner of Police Vijay Singh led the operation, with supervision from Deputy Commissioners Hareshwar Swami (Outer North) and Rajeev Ranjan (Rohini).
According to police, the crackdown specifically targeted members and associates of gangs led by Kala Jathedi, Jitender alias Gogi, Neeraj Bawana, Rajesh Bawana, Tillu Tajpuriya, Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu, and Nettu Dabodha.
Three individuals - Shaktiman (34), Vedpal (55), and Prem Singh Sehrawat (67) - were arrested from Outer North district, while three others - Vishal alias Behda alias Ankit, Hari Om alias Ankit, and Naveen - were apprehended in Rohini district.
Prem Singh Sehrawat is the father of Neeraj Bawana, who is currently imprisoned in Tihar jail.
The 35-year-old Bawana is implicated in over 30 cases of murder and extortion and continues to operate his gang from inside the prison. He was arrested in 2015 by the Special Cell after being one of Delhi's most wanted criminals. Police reports indicate he maintained connections with Fazal Ur Rehman, a close associate of gangster Dawood, and had ties with Canada-based fugitive Arsh Dalla and Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist killed in Canada in 2023.
Police have registered FIRs under the Arms Act at Narela Industrial Area, Bawana, and Kanjhawala police stations.
A senior police officer stated, "Mobile phones and electronic devices seized during the raids are being analyzed to track links with gangsters operating from abroad. This coordinated action is part of our ongoing efforts to break the backbone of gangsterism in Outer North and Rohini."
