Rahul Gandhi claimed there was an attempt to remove 6,018 names from the voter list in Aland constituency.
New Delhi:
Following his second campaign wave against alleged "vote theft," Congress leader Rahul Gandhi posted on X that students, youth, and notably "Gen Z" would "save the constitution, protect democracy and stop vote theft," adding that he stands firmly with them. His specific mention of "Gen Z" appears potentially controversial, as this demographic recently led protests in neighboring Nepal that ultimately toppled the ruling government.

The Nepal demonstrations initially began as protests against social media platform restrictions but evolved into anti-corruption movements. Following the collapse of KP Sharma Oli's government, former Nepal Supreme Court judge Sushila Karki, known for her strong anti-corruption stance, was appointed interim Prime Minister.
While Gandhi has been increasingly vocal about alleged "vote theft" — suggesting collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission to secure an NDA victory — he has also repeatedly accused the NDA government of corruption.

The BJP, Election Commission, and targeted leaders have dismissed these allegations as unfounded.
Earlier today, Gandhi again criticized the Election Commission, alleging it orchestrated a "mass deletion of voters" before Karnataka's 2023 election through centralized software.
During a PowerPoint presentation, Gandhi alleged an attempted removal of 6,018 voters from Aland constituency's electoral rolls. The Election Commission responded by pointing out that Congress had actually won that seat.
"In 2023, certain unsuccessful attempts were made for the deletion of electors in Aland Constituency, and an FIR was filed by the ECI itself to investigate the matter," the Commission clarified.

BJP MP Anurag Thakur sharply countered Gandhi's claims, noting that Congress has lost 90 percent of elections contested under his leadership.
"His frustration is increasing day by day. It has become a habit of Rahul Gandhi to make incorrect and baseless allegations. Being reprimanded by courts has become a routine for him," Thakur stated.
"Rahul Gandhi is a liar. He says vote theft happens, but that is not true. There was a time when Congress got votes and came to power, but since Prime Minister Narendra Modi came, he has become the country's Prime Minister three times, and the Opposition has lost three times," said BJP Union minister Ramdas Athawale.
Athawale added that if Gandhi truly believed vote manipulation occurred, he should file a formal complaint rather than making repeated public accusations. "If vote theft happens, he can go and formally register a complaint, but he will not do that," he concluded.
