Newly-Married Couple Found Dead in Locked Room in Deoghar: Police Investigate Possible Murder-Suicide

A wave of panic swept through the Belabagan Kalibari area of Deoghar on Wednesday afternoon following the discovery of a young couple found dead inside their rented accommodation under mysterious circumstances.

The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Ravi Sharma and his 24-year-old wife Lovely Sharma, who had been married for approximately one year.

Police reported that the room was locked from the inside. After the couple failed to emerge for an extended period and did not respond to multiple knocks, concerned neighbors alerted the landlord before contacting law enforcement.

Upon arrival, police personnel broke open the door and discovered both bodies inside the room.

News of the incident spread rapidly throughout the locality, drawing a large crowd outside the residence.

A forensic team was dispatched to the location to collect evidence and examine the scene thoroughly.

According to police sources, initial observations suggest the incident may be a case of murder followed by suicide, though the exact sequence of events will only be confirmed after receiving the post-mortem report.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Lovely was originally from Kalirekha in Deoghar, while Ravi was a native of Siwan district in Bihar. He had been employed in Guwahati before relocating to Deoghar.

Police officials stated that the couple had reportedly been experiencing marital discord since their wedding. Several months ago, Lovely's family had filed a complaint at the Women's Police Station in Deoghar, which led to counseling and an eventual compromise. Following this intervention, the couple had resumed cohabitation.

Local residents claim that the couple engaged in a heated argument late Tuesday night, after which the incident is believed to have occurred.

Family members from both sides rushed to Deoghar upon receiving the news and were devastated by the tragedy.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and police have initiated a comprehensive investigation exploring all possible angles.

"We are currently examining both theories – murder as well as suicide. The cause of death will become clear once we receive the autopsy report," stated the Deoghar City Police Station in-charge.
