Delhi Airport Faces Flight Delays: IndiGo Issues Travel Advisory Due to Air Traffic Congestion

IndiGo has issued a travel advisory warning passengers about flight delays from Delhi due to air traffic congestion. While operations seemed to normalize by Wednesday, some passengers still experienced delays. Air India reported minor disruptions due to third-party connectivity issues affecting check-in systems, while Delhi Airport confirmed they were working with stakeholders to restore normal operations.

IndiGo Says Delhi Flight Operations Hit After Air Traffic Congestion

On Wednesday afternoon, flight operations appeared to be functioning normally across all three terminals of Delhi Airport.

IndiGo issued a travel advisory on Tuesday informing passengers that flight operations from Delhi might be affected due to air traffic congestion, potentially resulting in delays and longer waiting periods.

In their advisory, the airline acknowledged the inconvenience to passengers and encouraged them to check their website or mobile application for real-time flight status updates.

"Due to air traffic congestion in Delhi, flight operations are currently impacted. We understand that extended wait times, both on the ground and onboard, may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate your patience," stated IndiGo in their announcement.

By Wednesday afternoon, flight operations appeared to have normalized at all three terminals of Delhi Airport, with only one passenger who spoke with NDTV reporting issues. Anil Kumar Wadhwa, scheduled to travel from Delhi to Goa, said: "My IndiGo flight has been delayed by one hour and ten minutes. I got the message about the delay while I was on my way to the airport. I left home on time, but now I'm waiting outside. I haven't been told the reason for the delay."

Meanwhile, sources from Air India confirmed their flights experienced only minor delays of approximately 20 minutes on Tuesday, with two diversions from Delhi, but stated that operations were running normally today.

"A third-party connectivity network issue had impacted check-in systems at some airports, thereby delaying flight departures of some airlines, including Air India. The system has since been restored. However, some of our flights may continue to be delayed for some time as the situation normalizes progressively. Passengers flying with us today may check their flight status here before heading to the airport and allow extra time for their journey," Air India explained in their statement.

The Delhi Airport stated, "Few airlines are currently experiencing a technical glitch for check in processes. We are actively coordinating with all stakeholders to minimize delays and restore normal operations as quickly as possible."
