The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) executed comprehensive search operations on Tuesday regarding a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case filed against Harcharan Singh Bhullar, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Punjab Police.
According to CBI officials, the investigative raids were implemented across seven locations throughout Patiala and Ludhiana districts.
The targeted properties are reportedly connected to individuals suspected of serving as benamidars or close associates of the senior police officer, allegedly utilized for funneling and investing illegitimate wealth into real estate properties and associated business enterprises.
The search operations encompassed locations in villages Baukar Gujiran, Kalas Khurd, and Sainsowal Kalan, alongside premises in Machhiwara Khas, Sargodha Colony (Ludhiana), as well as New Moti Bagh Colony and Sira Complex (Patiala).
During these operations, CBI investigators uncovered approximately Rs 20.5 lakh in cash, several digital devices including a laptop, two mobile phones, and a CCTV DVR, together with over 50 property-related documents comprising sale deeds, transaction records, and papers concerning company formation and financial transfers.
CBI representatives indicated that all confiscated materials have been secured for thorough examination to determine their connection to assets allegedly disproportionate to the officer's legitimate income sources.
The searches were executed with independent witnesses present and in full compliance with established legal procedures.
This operation constitutes part of the CBI's sustained campaign to combat corruption and illegal asset accumulation among high-ranking government officials.
