Prashant Kishor Challenges Tejashwi Yadav's Election Promises in Bihar Assembly Polls

In Bihar's upcoming two-phase assembly elections, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor has publicly criticized RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for making "unrealistic" campaign promises. While campaigning in Bhojpur, Kishor mockingly suggested Yadav should prepare retirement plans, claiming the RJD leader faces inevitable electoral defeat. Meanwhile, Yadav has doubled down on his Mahagathbandhan's flagship "Mai Bahin Maan Yojana" promising Rs 30,000 to women if elected to power.

Prashant Kishor Takes Aim At Tejashwi Yadav, Asks About 'Retirement Plans'

Bihar will conduct its elections in two phases on November 6 and November 11.

In Bhojpur, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor launched a pointed critique of Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday, ridiculing his ambitious electoral promises. Kishor suggested that Yadav should reveal his post-retirement plans, asserting that the RJD leader is headed for defeat in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

While campaigning for a party candidate in Bhojpur, the JSP founder criticized Yadav's campaign promises. "Tejashwi Yadav should tell us what he would do post-retirement. He is losing elections. He is saying anything," Kishor stated to ANI.

Earlier on the final day of campaigning for the first phase of Assembly elections, Tejashwi Yadav had reaffirmed that if the Mahagathbandhan secures victory, they would implement the 'Mai Bahin Maan Yojana,' which promises to transfer Rs 30,000 into women's accounts.

Yadav elaborated, "Multiple women are excited for the Maa Behen Maan Yojana we had announced, saying that they will get economic relief in this time of inflation. So we want to say that, on the demands of our mothers and sisters, our government will be formed. We all know Makar Sankranti is also coming; it is a new year for people. It happens on January 14, we will form the government, and under the Maa Behen Maan yojana, we will deposit Rs 30,000 in the accounts of women, covering for the whole year."

The RJD leader further explained, "In this time of inflation, they will get some economic relief. For five years, one will get Rs 1.5 lakh and for one year, Rs 30,000, which will be given on January 14."

Yadav also repeated commitments to support the state's Jeevika Didis under the World Bank-supported Bihar Rural Livelihoods Project (BRLP), promising monthly payments of Rs 2,000, Rs 5 lakh insurance coverage, and loan interest waivers for women.

These promises are outlined in the Mahagathbandhan manifesto, aimed at providing financial assistance and welfare to women across Bihar. For government employees, Yadav has committed that their postings will remain within 70 kilometers of their home cadre.

On October 28, the Mahagathbandhan alliance, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, released its manifesto titled 'Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran,' highlighting key commitments ahead of the elections. The coalition has promised to enact legislation within 20 days of forming government to provide government employment to one member of every family in the state.

As the 2025 elections approach, Bihar is experiencing a primary contest between the NDA, comprising BJP, JD(U), HAMS, and LJP (RV), and the Mahagathbandhan, which includes RJD, Congress, VIP, and left parties.

Additionally, Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj has announced candidates for all 243 assembly seats in the state. The assembly elections will take place in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results to be announced on November 14.
