The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Central government requesting a status report on the case.

New Delhi:

Actress Celina Jaitly has expressed profound gratitude following the Delhi High Court's notice to the Ministry of External Affairs concerning her brother, Maj. (Rtd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in the UAE since 2024.

In her conversation with ANI, Celina highlighted concerns about Indian soldiers becoming frequent targets abroad.

"The past year has been a nightmare for me. I am extremely grateful for today's judgment. As India continues to rise and expand its presence in the international community, our soldiers are increasingly becoming targets overseas. I believe today's judgment will significantly help in securing his return, and I'm very thankful to my lawyer Raghav and the entire team," the actress stated.

Celina had petitioned the Delhi High Court seeking essential legal and medical assistance for her brother from Indian authorities.

Responding to her petition, the court issued a notice to the Central government, instructing them to submit a status report within four weeks. The High Court has also ordered the appointment of a nodal officer to monitor the status of her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly.

The case has been scheduled for further hearing on December 4. Advocates Raghav Kacker and Madhav Agarwal represented Celina Jaitly. The actress has alleged that her brother was abducted and detained in Abu Dhabi. He has reportedly been in detention for 14 months without proper access to legal and medical assistance.

"A nodal officer has been designated to facilitate communication between the petitioner and her brother, provide effective legal assistance, and keep us informed about the case status... These measures will assist in securing his release. This will significantly strengthen ties between the UAE and India. He was a major general from our army, a special forces officer, and the government will issue a status report outlining their planned actions," Advocate Raghav Kacker informed ANI.

He further mentioned that they remain unaware of the specific details regarding Celina Jaitly's brother's detention.
