Following confrontation, the woman confessed to taking the valuable items.
Hathras (UP):
In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly stole jewellery valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh that was intended for her sister-in-law's upcoming wedding ceremony, according to police reports released Tuesday.
Police sources revealed that Akram, also known as Kalua, a resident of Mohalla Nai Basti in Delhi, had stored various gold ornaments including necklaces, bangles, chains, and rings for his sister's wedding scheduled for November 11.
The precious items, estimated to be worth around Rs 50 lakh, mysteriously disappeared from his residence on the night of October 23.
Following the discovery of the missing jewellery, Akram filed a theft complaint at Hathras Gate Police Station the very next day.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Chiranjeev Nath Sinha immediately ordered a thorough investigation into the matter.
During the investigation, authorities uncovered that Akram's wife harbored tense relations with her sister-in-law and was unwilling to see the jewellery given to her. Motivated by this animosity, she took the jewellery and transferred it to her parents' home.
When confronted by Akram about the missing items, his wife admitted to taking the valuable ornaments.
SP Sinha stated, "The recovered ornaments are being returned to the family, and further legal proceedings are currently underway."
