Bengaluru Surgeon Allegedly Kills Doctor Wife, Sends

A Bengaluru surgeon, Dr. Mahendra Reddy, was arrested six months after allegedly administering a lethal overdose of anesthetic drug to his dermatologist wife.

Police officials revealed that Dr. Mahendra had sent a disturbing message to his lover immediately following the crime, stating: "I killed my wife for you." This incriminating message was discovered during forensic analysis of his phone on a digital payment application.

Authorities have questioned the woman involved in the relationship with Dr. Mahendra and recorded her statement, though her identity remains undisclosed.

The tragic incident occurred on April 21 when Dr. Kruthika Reddy reportedly fell ill at their home. Her husband rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation took a significant turn when the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report confirmed the presence of Propofol, a potent anesthetic drug, in the victim's organs, indicating foul play. During a search of their residence, police recovered crucial evidence including a cannula set, an injection tube, and various medical items.

Following these findings, Dr. Kruthika's father filed a complaint alleging that his son-in-law had murdered his daughter.

Dr. Mahendra was subsequently arrested on October 15. Investigators believe he utilized his medical knowledge to make his wife's death appear natural.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh stated, "Evidence collected till now points at the role of the husband in the crime, as he was the person who brought her to the hospital initially and didn't mention anything that could have gone wrong. He claimed she was not in good health and was undergoing treatment, now we have learnt that she was injected with some sedatives, which shows there was a malicious intention."

The couple had married on May 26 the previous year and were both employed at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru.
