Gurugram:
A tragic incident occurred in Gurugram's Sector 65 near IFFCO Chowk on Monday when a two-year-old boy lost his life after falling into a manhole, according to police reports.
The manhole had a fiber cover that was only partially in place, which resulted in the child falling through the opening. The victim has been identified as Dilraj.
According to officials, Dilraj's father Kalu, originally from Rajasthan, resides with his family in a temporary shelter in the Ullawas area. Kalu earns his livelihood as a laborer and supplements his income by selling toys and flowers on the street.
The incident took place Monday morning when Kalu and his wife were working nearby and had seated their son close to the manhole. While engaged in play, Dilraj accidentally fell into the opening.
Upon receiving the alert, police personnel arrived at the scene and conducted a rescue operation that lasted approximately one hour. The child was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility, where medical professionals pronounced him deceased.
"We have documented the incident and released the body to the family members following completion of the post-mortem examination," stated a high-ranking police officer.
