Maharashtra Reserves 70% Jobs In District Cooperative Banks For Locals

The Maharashtra government has implemented a new policy reserving 70% of positions in District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) for local candidates from respective districts.

Mumbai:

In a significant initiative to boost local employment opportunities, the Maharashtra government has mandated that 70% of jobs in District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) must be allocated to candidates who are domiciled in the respective districts.

Additionally, the government has stipulated that all future recruitment processes in DCCBs throughout the state must be conducted exclusively through three authorized organizations: the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), TCS-iON (Tata Consultancy Services), or Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd (MKCL). This measure aims to ensure transparency and fairness in the hiring process.

According to a government resolution (GR) released on October 31, while 70% of positions are reserved for local district residents, the remaining 30% will be available for candidates from outside the district. The resolution further states that if suitable candidates from outside the district cannot be found, these positions may also be filled by local candidates.

The GR clarifies that this directive applies even to banks that have already published recruitment advertisements prior to this order.

The government resolution emphasizes that online recruitment procedures will enhance transparency and strengthen public trust in the process.

This policy decision comes in response to complaints received against certain agencies previously authorized by the Commissioner and Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Pune, for conducting online recruitment for cooperative banks.

As a result, the state government has canceled the existing panel of seven authorized recruitment agencies.

According to the GR, DCCBs are now required to conduct their recruitment exclusively through one of the three approved institutions using online processes. Once a recruitment agency is selected, the work cannot be subcontracted to any other organization.
