Delhi Liquor Fraud Exposed: Staff Caught Refilling Premium Bottles with Cheap Alcohol in Government-Run Store

Delhi authorities have uncovered a fraudulent operation at a government-run liquor outlet in Narela where staff were caught adulterating premium alcohol brands.

Officials revealed on Sunday that employees at a liquor store were apprehended during a raid by the Delhi government's excise department for illegally refilling bottles of expensive alcohol brands with cheaper liquor and water. The operation was conducted at a mall in Narela.

Acting on intelligence inputs, excise department inspectors raided the Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (DSIIDC) liquor vend on Thursday. Upon arrival, they discovered the establishment partially open with four individuals inside engaged in the illicit activity of mixing and refilling premium brand bottles with inferior quality alcohol.

An excise department officer reported that the team also located a vehicle parked outside containing a bag filled with empty liquor bottles, some of which were being utilized for the unauthorized refilling operation inside the premises.

"The vend employees were purchasing empty bottles from scrap dealers and attaching bar codes to pass them off as genuine, high-priced liquor. We have notified the DSIIDC and requested disciplinary action," the officer explained.

Local law enforcement was promptly informed, and a formal case has been registered at Narela police station. Authorities have seized both the fraudulent bottles and the vehicles involved in the operation.

The officer added that samples from the confiscated bottles have been sent for chemical analysis, and the liquor outlet has been sealed pending further investigation.
