In a shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered his wife using an iron rod following a domestic altercation and subsequently abandoned the scene after confining their three-year-old child in the same room with the deceased mother's body, according to police statements on Sunday.

The tragic event occurred in a village under the jurisdiction of the Maudaha police station. The perpetrator, identified as Mueenuddin, who works as a government ration dealer ('kotedar'), had married Roshni (24) in a love marriage approximately four years ago, authorities reported.

"An intense verbal confrontation erupted between the couple on Saturday evening, during which Mueenuddin, overwhelmed with anger, assaulted his wife with an iron rod, causing her immediate death," Assistant Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Gupta stated.

The following morning, family members were alerted by the distressing sounds of the three-year-old child coming from the locked room. Upon forcing the door open, they discovered the traumatized child sitting beside the blood-covered body of his mother, prompting them to contact law enforcement immediately.

"We have apprehended the accused after conducting a search operation. Further legal proceedings will be initiated," the ASP confirmed.
