"Hindenburg Claims Were Baseless": Gautam Adani After SEBI Clean Chit

Welcoming SEBI's clean chit in the allegations made by short seller Hindenburg Research, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has said it reinforces what the group has always maintained - that the claims were baseless.

Mr Adani concluded his post with Satyamev Jayate, a phrase meaning truth ultimately prevails.
New Delhi:
Responding to SEBI's exoneration regarding allegations made by short seller Hindenburg Research, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has declared that truth prevails, and the market regulator's findings confirm what the group has consistently maintained - that the accusations were unfounded.
Mr Adani also expressed concern for investors who suffered financial losses due to the targeted report.
"Following a comprehensive investigation, SEBI has confirmed what we have always stated, that Hindenburg's claims lacked substance. The Adani Group has consistently been defined by transparency and integrity. We sincerely sympathize with investors who experienced financial losses because of this deceptive and targeted report. Those responsible for spreading false narratives should apologize to the nation," he shared on X on Thursday.

"Our dedication to India's institutions, its citizens, and nation-building remains steadfast. Satyamev Jayate! JAI HIND!" he added.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India has absolved Mr Adani and his group companies, including Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and Adani Power, of stock manipulation allegations brought forward by Hindenburg Research.
In two separate rulings, SEBI determined that allegations of insider trading, market manipulation, and violations of public shareholding norms were unsubstantiated.
In January 2023, Hindenburg had claimed that three companies - Adicorp Enterprises Pvt Ltd, Milestone Tradelinks Pvt Ltd, and Rehvar Infrastructure Pvt Ltd - were utilized to channel funds between Adani group companies.
SEBI observed that disclosure requirements were not violated as the transactions did not qualify as related party dealings.
The Adani Group has repeatedly dismissed the allegations made by the short seller, whose founder, Nate Anderson, announced in January that the firm would cease operations.
