On Monday, two individuals impersonating police officers allegedly stole over Rs 20 lakh in cash and 1.4 kg of gold from a gold smelting establishment in Delhi's Farsh Bazar area, authorities reported.
The theft occurred at approximately 1.50 pm at a shop located in Chhota Bazar, according to officials.
Police stated that Shankar Pujari, the owner who filed the complaint, reported that three employees—Vikram, Jeevan, and Vikas—were working in the shop during the incident.
"The complainant's brother Shambu had left for lunch at 1.50 pm. Shortly after, two individuals entered the premises claiming to be police officers. They subdued the staff and fled with Rs 20 lakh in cash and approximately 1,400 gm of gold," explained a senior police official.
A PCR call reporting the robbery was received at the Farsh Bazar police station at 2.50 pm, prompting authorities to immediately dispatch a team to the location, the official said.
Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the perpetrators, he further mentioned.
