State-run oil marketing companies have implemented a reduction in commercial LPG cylinder prices across all metropolitan cities, providing modest relief to businesses beginning Saturday.

This price cut will offer some financial respite to thousands of small and medium enterprises that rely on LPG for their operations.

According to the latest revision announced by state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs), the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has been reduced by Rs 5, bringing the cost down to Rs 1,590.50 from the previous rate of Rs 1,595.50.

Kolkata has seen the most significant reduction among metro cities, with prices decreasing by Rs 6.50 per cylinder, resulting in a new rate of Rs 1,694. Chennai's prices have been lowered by Rs 4.50 to Rs 1,750, while Mumbai's rates have dropped by Rs 5 to Rs 1,542.

This latest revision provides modest relief to businesses such as restaurants, hotels, and catering services that heavily depend on LPG for their daily operations, especially following a price increase of Rs 15.50 implemented in late September.

It should be noted that domestic LPG prices remain unchanged across all cities.

In September, OMCs had previously reduced commercial LPG gas cylinder prices by Rs 51.50, bringing the cost of a 19-kg commercial cylinder in Delhi to Rs 1,580.

Prior to that, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder had been decreased by Rs 33.50, following another reduction of Rs 58.50 implemented on July 1.

Earlier in June, oil companies had announced a Rs 24 price cut for commercial cylinders, establishing a rate of Rs 1,723.50. The price stood at Rs 1,762 in April. February saw a minor reduction of Rs 7, which was partially offset by a Rs 6 increase in March.

Meanwhile, the Centre has announced plans to distribute 2.5 million free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) during the festival season.
