The victim reportedly was deprived of food during the incident.
Police have filed charges against seven transgender women in Bengaluru for allegedly assaulting a fellow community member and forcibly shaving her head.
The case was initiated after a 24-year-old transgender woman submitted a complaint on October 31, alleging she was confined against her will, physically abused, and had her head shaved while being held in a house located in Bengaluru's Virat Nagar area.
According to the official report, the victim had been residing at a transgender woman's residence for approximately five months, earning her living by collecting alms. On October 29, she traveled to KR Puram for work purposes and spent the night at another transgender individual's home.
The following day, four transgender women arrived in two autorickshaws, forcibly transported her back to Virat Nagar, and interrogated her about staying elsewhere. They insisted she must permanently reside with them, according to the filed report.
The FIR states that two transgender women used hair removal cream to shave the victim's head, while others subjected her to physical abuse using sticks, belts, and ropes from afternoon until 3 am.
The victim claimed she was not allowed to eat that night and was threatened with additional violence if she resisted.
Footage of the incident showing the victim with her head shaved being assaulted inside a room has been circulating across social media platforms.
Authorities have charged seven individuals—Prakruthi, Neelambari, Mouna, Nagma, Shreesh, Beauty, and Chaitra—under applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.
