In an extraordinary twist reminiscent of a television drama, a middle-aged man fled with his daughter's prospective mother-in-law mere days before their children's scheduled engagement ceremony.

The incident was reported from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, although it had occurred approximately eight days earlier. Police successfully tracked down the missing woman on Thursday.

According to authorities, the 45-year-old woman from Untvasa village had been unaccounted for over a week. Her disappearance prompted her son to file a missing person report, which initiated a police investigation.

On Thursday, authorities discovered her in Chikli village, cohabitating with a 50-year-old farmer who was revealed to be the father of her son's fiancée.

The investigation determined that the farmer from Chikli had been widowed some time ago and had been raising his two children alone. His daughter had recently become engaged to the son of the woman who had 'disappeared'.

During engagement preparations, the future in-laws developed romantic feelings for each other and decided to elope together, leaving their respective families in a state of disbelief.

Town Inspector Ashok Patidar confirmed the situation.

"A missing person report was filed eight days ago regarding a 45-year-old woman. Our investigation revealed that she had abandoned her husband and two children, aged 18 and 20, to be with a 50-year-old farmer whose daughter was to be engaged to her son. The formal engagement ceremony had not yet taken place. Both individuals have expressed their desire to remain together," he stated.

Even after being located, the woman reportedly refused to leave her new partner, declaring her intention to stay with him. Family members attempted to persuade her to return home, but she remained resolute in her decision, leaving both families devastated and embarrassed.
