Man, 35, Dies By Suicide In Delhi Park Over Wife's Alleged Affair

New Delhi:

A 35-year-old man tragically ended his life at a park in northwest Delhi's Mangolpuri area on Friday, reportedly due to suspicions about his wife's extramarital relationship, according to police reports.

The discovery was made approximately at 8:00 am when Raj Park police station received information about a man found hanging from a tree in Navaria Park, Mangolpuri.

Police identified the deceased as Karan Chauhan, a 35-year-old married father of three who worked as a daily-wage sweeper. Authorities noted that Chauhan reportedly struggled with drug addiction, and his wife and children had left their home about a week prior to the incident.

During the investigation, officers discovered two handwritten notes in Chauhan's clothing. In these notes, he apparently attributed his decision to take his own life to his wife's alleged relationship with another individual, a senior police officer stated.

"Chauhan was discovered hanging with a plastic rope attached to a tree branch. His feet were suspended in the air, and two bricks were located nearby, suggesting they were used to elevate himself before the act," the officer explained.

Forensic experts were summoned to examine and document the scene. The body was transported to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri for medical examination, police reported.

"No external injuries were observed on the body except for a ligature mark around the neck," added the officer.

A postmortem examination has been completed, and authorities await the report. The body has been released to family members for final rites, and further legal proceedings are ongoing.
