BJP MP Ganesh Singh Slaps Municipal Worker During 'Run for Unity' Event in Satna

A 'Run for Unity' event in Satna turned chaotic when BJP MP Ganesh Singh slapped a municipal crane operator after experiencing a technical issue while garlanding an Ambedkar statue. The incident, caught on camera, has sparked public outrage and political controversy, with the MP's representative further inflaming tensions by defending the assault on social media.

Bhopal:

A commemorative event for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary descended into disorder at Satna on Friday afternoon when BJP MP Ganesh Singh publicly slapped a municipal crane operator. The altercation took place near the BR Ambedkar statue at Semriya Chowk during the 'Run for Unity' celebration organized for the occasion.

Witnesses reported that the MP was utilizing a hydraulic crane to place a garland on the Ambedkar statue. During his descent, the equipment suddenly jerked and halted mid-air, leaving the lawmaker suspended momentarily. Upon finally reaching the ground, the visibly enraged MP summoned the operator, Ganesh Kushwaha, a municipal worker, and struck him across the face in full view of BJP associates, administrative personnel, and onlookers.

The confrontation was captured on video and promptly generated significant criticism across social media platforms.

The footage showed the MP exiting the hydraulic platform, verbally berating the operator before striking him in the face as law enforcement and officials observed in apparent shock.

According to bystanders, the machine had experienced a jolt due to a minor technical malfunction. "The operator was simply performing his duties. The sudden movement was mechanical in nature. However, the MP became furious," explained a municipal employee who witnessed the incident.

Following the event, the MP's representative, Neeta Soni, justified the physical assault in a social media statement, declaring, "The MP merely slapped him. His arms and legs should have been broken. If he had fallen from that height, who would have taken responsibility?"

This statement has further heightened political tensions.

Congress party representatives denounced the act, describing it as a "display of arrogance and power intoxication." State party spokesperson Abhinav Baraulia remarked, "This is the genuine character of the BJP where leaders believe they possess ownership over public servants and citizens alike."

The confrontation, occurring during a government-sponsored event intended to promote unity and respect, has triggered widespread indignation. Local authorities have not yet indicated whether disciplinary measures will be pursued against the MP or if the municipal employee has submitted a formal complaint.
