2,790 Indian Nationals Deported from US Since January: External Affairs Ministry Confirms

The Indian External Affairs Ministry has confirmed that 2,790 Indian nationals illegally residing in the United States have been deported since January 2025. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal revealed these statistics during a weekly media briefing, adding that approximately 100 Indians have also been deported from the UK during the same period after proper nationality verification.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal revealed important statistics regarding deportations during his weekly media briefing.

The Indian government announced on Thursday that since January, approximately 2,790 Indian nationals who were residing illegally in the United States have been returned to India after failing to meet necessary criteria for continued stay.

Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, provided these figures during his regularly scheduled media briefing in response to inquiries from journalists.

"Regarding deportations, we have verified the credentials and nationality of more than 2,790 Indian nationals who were staying illegally in the US since January this year. They did not meet the required criteria and have subsequently returned to India. This data is current as of yesterday, October 29th," Jaiswal explained.

When questioned about similar situations involving Indian nationals deported from the United Kingdom, the spokesperson added, "Concerning the UK, approximately 100 Indian nationals have been deported this year after we duly verified their nationality."
