Gorakhpur:
A horrific crime has come to light in Gorakhpur city, where a man murdered his sister and transported her body approximately 70 kilometers away to Kushinagar district following a dispute over money, police officials reported on Thursday.
Authorities recovered the victim's body late Wednesday night after the suspect confessed to the crime.
Police investigations revealed that Ram Ashish Nishad (32) killed his 19-year-old sister Neelam over a disagreement regarding Rs 5 lakh compensation their father, Chinku Nishad, had received for land acquired for a road development project. According to police, Chinku had intended to utilize these funds for Neelam's wedding arrangements, which angered Ram, who believed he deserved a portion of the money.
On October 27, Ram visited the family residence while other household members were absent. Superintendent of Police (SP) City Abhinav Tyagi stated that Ram strangled Neelam with a cloth, broke her limbs, placed her body in a sack, and tied it to his motorcycle before disposing of it in a sugarcane field in Kushinagar.
When Neelam disappeared, her father initially believed she had gone to participate in Chhath Puja celebrations. However, suspicions arose when neighbors reported seeing Ram departing with a large sack. Police subsequently examined CCTV footage that captured him riding away with the suspicious package.
During questioning, Ram first claimed ignorance but later admitted to committing the murder. SP Tyagi confirmed that Neelam's decomposed remains were recovered from the field.
The parents have called for capital punishment for their son and have expressed suspicions regarding his wife's potential involvement in this heinous crime.
