Lalu Yadav's elder daughter Rohini Acharya defended RJD's Chapra candidate Khesari Lal Yadav in a verbal clash with the BJP
New Delhi:
Rohini Acharya, the elder daughter of Lalu Yadav, launched a strong counter-attack against the BJP after the ruling party mocked RJD's Chapra candidate and Bhojpuri superstar Khesari Lal Yadav, who recently joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Following RJD's announcement of the popular Bhojpuri actor as their candidate for the assembly election, the BJP dismissed him as a political threat, referring to him derogatorily as a "nachaniya" (dancer) and questioning his credibility in the political arena.
Acharya swiftly defended the RJD candidate by highlighting BJP members with entertainment industry backgrounds. "BJP people are calling Khesari Yadav a nachaniya. But what about the people in their party? Manoj Tiwari, Ravi Kishan, Hema Malini, aren't they dancers too?" Acharya pointed out.
She also referenced Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in her response.
This exchange is expected to intensify the verbal confrontation between BJP and RJD leaders, with both sides accusing each other of diminishing the quality of political discourse during election season.
Acharya has consistently maintained she harbors no political ambitions, dismissing rumors about her return to active politics as "baseless." She contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election but was defeated by BJP's Rajiv Pratap Rudy in Saran.
Among Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi's children, four have shown political inclinations, with Misha Bharti aligning with Tejashwi Yadav, while Acharya has supported Tej Pratap.
Acharya, who donated a kidney to her father during his serious illness, has occasionally indicated disappointment regarding Lalu Yadav's endorsement of Tejashwi Yadav.
Upon joining the RJD, Khesari Yadav expressed his desire to support "brother" Tejashwi Yadav in getting another opportunity to guide Bihar toward development.
"I have always strived to ensure that just as I am raising my children in Mumbai, providing them with good schools and hospitals, the future of the children of Bihar should be as secure as ours, and our children should not have to go to other states. So a change is needed, and I want to contribute to that change," the Bhojpuri superstar stated.
Bihar will vote in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
