Deputy Superintendent of Police Kalpana Raghuvanshi has been caught on camera stealing from her friend's residence in Bhopal.
A high-ranking female police officer from Bhopal has been charged with theft, creating an unprecedented scandal within the Madhya Pradesh Police Department. Deputy Superintendent of Police Kalpana Raghuvanshi, currently assigned to Police Headquarters, faces allegations of stealing Rs 2 lakh in cash and a mobile phone from her friend's home.
The theft occurred in the Jahangirabad police station jurisdiction of Bhopal, raising profound concerns about ethical standards and responsibility within law enforcement.
According to the victim's testimony, she had left her mobile phone charging and went to take a bath. During this brief absence, DSP Raghuvanshi entered the residence and allegedly took the cash and an additional cellphone from the victim's handbag.
Upon returning, the victim discovered both items missing. After reviewing her security footage, she found evidence of DSP Raghuvanshi entering and leaving the premises. Sources indicate that the surveillance video captured the officer holding currency notes while departing from the house.
Disturbed by this discovery, the victim promptly filed an official complaint with local authorities.
Based on the surveillance evidence, police have registered a theft case against Raghuvanshi. The accused officer has since disappeared, and multiple search operations have been initiated to locate her.
Additional Superintendent of Police Bittu Sharma confirmed: "The complainant's mobile phone has been recovered from the accused's residence. The officer is clearly visible in the security footage."
Police sources report that the Rs 2 lakh in cash remains unrecovered.
The Police Headquarters has issued a departmental notice to Raghuvanshi, and disciplinary proceedings are being prepared.
This incident has created significant upheaval throughout the police organization, triggering public outrage and internal embarrassment. Senior officials have demanded a rigorous and transparent investigation, emphasizing that no officer will be protected from accountability.
