New Delhi: A 20-year-old man has been arrested for the brutal murder of a 37-year-old individual in Northwest Delhi's Wazirpur area. According to officials, the suspect allegedly tied the victim to a truck and fatally assaulted him with a brick.

The accused, identified as Amit, also known as Pawwa, was apprehended for murdering Daya Kishan. Both individuals resided in the same locality.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh stated, "The perpetrator, who regularly consumes alcohol, killed the victim who was found in a severely intoxicated condition."

The incident occurred on October 20 near a metro pillar. Authorities were alerted about a man discovered tied to a truck with head injuries. The victim was transported to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital where medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival. He was subsequently identified as Daya Kishan.

"With no witnesses or immediate evidence, the case was classified as a blind murder. Investigators analyzed CCTV footage from surrounding areas, which revealed the victim wandering alone in an inebriated state prior to the murder," explained the Deputy Commissioner.

Following extensive field investigations, police received information about Amit, a young local known for his drinking habits. After multiple raids at his suspected locations, authorities finally captured him based on information provided by community members.

"During questioning, he admitted to the killing and described the entire sequence of events. He expressed a desire to achieve notoriety, and upon observing the victim in a heavily intoxicated state, decided to murder him," the officer revealed.

The officer further stated that in an act of rage, the accused tied the victim with a 'chunni' (scarf) to a truck and repeatedly struck his head with a brick, causing immediate death.

The suspect later led police to recover the victim's wallet containing identification documents including Aadhaar and PAN cards, along with other possessions. Authorities continue to investigate the case.
