A 24-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district reportedly took his own life in Saudi Arabia while on a video call with his recently wedded wife in India, according to police statements released Wednesday.

A police official revealed that Aas Mohammad Ansari allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling of his Riyadh residence on October 26 following an intense disagreement with his 21-year-old wife Sania during their video conversation.

Following the incident, his wife immediately contacted relatives residing in Saudi Arabia, who hurried to his home only to discover him deceased, as reported by family members.

Amjad Ali, a relative, stated that arrangements are currently in progress to return the body to Muzaffarnagar for funeral services.

On Wednesday, family members disclosed that the couple had married earlier this year on April 7 in Bhopa village.

Ansari had departed for Saudi Arabia approximately two-and-a-half months ago for work purposes.

Family members mentioned that the Indian Embassy in Riyadh has been notified and necessary documentation is being processed to repatriate his remains.

Police officials indicated they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the specific nature of the argument between the couple.
