Chennai:

Actor and Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay formed a new 28-member administrative committee on Tuesday, just one day after meeting with families of many of the 41 victims who died in the September 27 Karur rally stampede. The committee has been summoned for a meeting on Wednesday, indicating a potential relaunch of Vijay's statewide political campaign that was suspended following the tragic incident.

Several prominent figures remain in the administrative council, including Bussy Anand, the party's second-in-command, general secretaries Aadhav Arjuna and Arun Raj, and deputy general secretary Nirmal Kumar. VP Mathiyazhagan, the Karur West district secretary who was arrested after the stampede, has also been included in the committee. The 28-member panel includes just one woman, Vijayalakshmi, a deputy general secretary from Namakkal district.

Although no formal agenda has been announced, sources suggest the committee may discuss reviving Vijay's state tour, possibly with a new approach, focusing on strengthening the party's organizational structure and addressing leadership and crisis management weaknesses revealed after the Karur tragedy. Party officials acknowledge that the incident exposed a lack of strong second-level leadership within the organization.
