The family of Janvi Gupta, the 28-year-old Hyderabad-based IndiGo cabin crew member who tragically took her own life last week, has issued a video statement firmly rejecting speculations surrounding her death, clarifying that it resulted from her ongoing battle with depression.

In their statement, Gupta's mother, Sonika Gupta, and her brother emphasized that they do not believe any foul play was involved in her death.

"We are deeply saddened that Janvi is no longer with us," her brother stated in the publicly released video. "We have been receiving messages suggesting someone is being held responsible for Janvi's passing. There are claims linking airline pilot Naresh Choudhury to her death. We want to make it absolutely clear that these allegations are completely false and incorrect."

"The actual cause of Janvi's death was depression. She had been suffering from depression for an extended period due to certain family matters," her brother continued, with Sonika Gupta present in support.

The family has urged the public to stop circulating unfounded and sensationalist messages immediately. "Legal action should be pursued against individuals spreading such rumors," they stated.

Local authorities have registered a case and seized Gupta's mobile phone as part of their ongoing investigation.

Police Inspector K Kastro informed NDTV that Sonika Gupta, who traveled from Jammu where the family originates, confirmed to investigators that her daughter had indeed been struggling with depression.

Janvi Gupta's body was discovered on October 24 at her rented accommodation in the Rajendranagar area of Hyderabad. Reports indicate she had hosted friends for a social gathering shortly before the tragic incident occurred.
