Fatal Bus Fire Near Jaipur: High-Tension Wire Contact Claims Father and Daughter Among Migrant Workers

A tragic incident occurred approximately 50 kilometers from Jaipur on Tuesday morning when a bus transporting laborers came into contact with a high-tension power line and burst into flames.

The fire claimed the lives of 50-year-old Naseem and his 20-year-old daughter Sahinam, who perished instantly at the scene. Naseem's wife sustained critical injuries and remains in serious condition.

The passengers were laborers from Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit district traveling to work at a brick kiln. This devastating accident happened just two weeks after another horrific bus fire in Rajasthan, where 20 people lost their lives when a private bus traveling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur caught fire.

The scene around the charred vehicle revealed the full extent of the tragedy - burnt children's toys, cooking supplies, utensils, and stoves scattered across the area, telling a heartbreaking story of loss.

These workers had journeyed in search of employment, carrying all their possessions with them. They had even brought livestock and fodder. Approximately 15 gas cylinders were aboard the bus, with two or three exploding during the fire.

Three motorcycles and three bicycles inside the vehicle were completely destroyed, leaving only the metal frame of the bus intact.

Even three hours after the incident, smoke continued to rise from the wreckage.

Nearby, a burnt stove and smoldering household items served as stark reminders of shattered lives. A metal barrel containing spices had spilled its contents around the area, and children's bicycles were reduced to ash.

Among the survivors, Mehandi suffered injuries along with her daughter, who hurt her foot, but refused medical attention as she was overwhelmed with grief.

Chanda Begum's mother-in-law, holding her grandchildren, wept uncontrollably, expressing concerns about the children's future.

Local villagers stepped forward to provide food for those who survived the disaster.

Arifa, another survivor, reported that passengers had urged the driver to stop the bus, but he disregarded their warnings.

Those seated at the rear of the bus managed to break windows and escape, while passengers in the front section sustained injuries.

The laborers had brought along food, kitchen utensils, a goat, and several chickens for their journey.

Rahees, another passenger, mentioned that most people on board belonged to the same extended family. Approximately 20 families were traveling on the bus, with his own family including seven members. Some passengers were accommodated in sleeper cabins, while others rested on mattresses spread across the floor.

Following the accident, numerous officials arrived at the site.

The Forensic Science Laboratory team initiated an investigation, while the Divisional Commissioner and District Collector supervised relief operations.

This tragedy has once again raised serious questions regarding negligence and administrative indifference.

District Collector Jitendra Kumar Soni reported that approximately 65 people were aboard the bus, all recruited from Pilibhit to work at local brick kilns. He explained that the bus had stopped once before the conductor directed passengers to move forward.

During this process, the metal portion of the vehicle apparently made contact with the high-voltage power line, igniting the fire.

An investigation is currently underway, with providing medical assistance to injured survivors being the administration's highest priority.

The District Collector also mentioned that transport department officials are preparing a comprehensive report documenting the incident.
