Police have apprehended Laxmi and her fiancé Keshav for the murder of insurance agent Chander
New Delhi:
In Faridabad near Delhi, authorities have detained a woman and her fiancé on allegations of murdering an insurance agent and disposing of his body in a drainage canal. During police questioning, the woman confessed that they killed the victim, Chander, because he had been subjecting her to blackmail.
Police reports indicate that Chander's remains were discovered in a drainage canal early Sunday. Identification was made possible through a nearby parked motorcycle's registration number. Investigators determined that Chander resided in Vinod Nagar in east Delhi, approximately 30 kilometers from Faridabad, and subsequently notified his relatives. The deceased exhibited trauma wounds to the head and neck areas. Following a formal complaint filed by Chander's sibling, Madan Gopal, authorities initiated a homicide investigation.
As the investigation progressed, law enforcement officers arrested Laxmi (29) and Keshav (26). Laxmi revealed to authorities that she had maintained an acquaintance with Chander for approximately five years. Her recent engagement to Keshav reportedly distressed Chander, who proceeded to blackmail her and demanded she cancel her marriage plans with Keshav. Exhausted by this persistent harassment, she and Keshav conspired to eliminate Chander, according to police spokesperson Yashpal Singh.
On October 25, Laxmi summoned Chander to Mithapur in Delhi, her place of residence. She boarded his motorcycle and directed him to an isolated location in Atmadpur, Faridabad. At this destination, Keshav accompanied by two associates ambushed Chander. The victim was asphyxiated and struck on the head. Following his death, the perpetrators discarded his body in a drainage canal before fleeing the scene. The suspects allegedly removed identification documents from Chander's possession, but the motorcycle's registration information enabled police to establish his identity. Authorities have stated they are currently pursuing Keshav's two accomplices who participated in the criminal act.
