A 19-year-old student ended his life after being blackmailed with AI-generated obscene images of his sisters in Haryana's Faridabad.

Rahul Bharti, who was studying in his second year at DAV College, had been experiencing severe distress for approximately two weeks. According to his father Manoj Bharti, someone had hacked into Rahul's phone and used artificial intelligence technology to create nude photos and videos of Rahul and his three sisters.

The investigation uncovered communication between Rahul and an individual named 'Sahil' who had transmitted the inappropriate content and demanded Rs 20,000. WhatsApp conversation screenshots revealed numerous audio and video calls between them, with 'Sahil' sending a location message saying 'aja mere paas' (come to me).

During their final exchange, 'Sahil' allegedly threatened to distribute all the manipulated photos and videos on social media platforms if Rahul refused to pay. Reports indicate that 'Sahil' even encouraged Rahul to take his own life and suggested specific substances that could cause death.

Overwhelmed by the situation, Rahul consumed tablets around 7 pm on Saturday. When his condition deteriorated, his family rushed him to a hospital, where he subsequently died during treatment.

"Someone had sent obscene videos and photos of my daughters to Rahul's phone and was threatening to make them viral. This distressed Rahul. Due to the mental torture, he consumed poison. He was being harassed," stated the victim's father.

Rahul's family believes another individual, identified as Neeraj Bharti, might be involved in the case, as he had spoken with the victim hours before the suicide. Rahul's mother, Meena Devi, alleged her brother-in-law's involvement - with whom she had a dispute approximately six months ago. She claimed he collaborated with a girl to devise the scheme.

Following the family's complaint, police have registered a case against two individuals.

"Rahul had consumed poison and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment, where he died during treatment. The case is currently being investigated based on a complaint from his father. The mobile phone is being examined. Appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation," explained Investigating Officer Sunil Kumar.

Old Police Station in-charge, Vishnu Kumar, characterized the case as a "serious example of cybercrime and the misuse of AI technology".
