New Delhi:

A dramatic development has emerged in the Delhi acid attack case as the wife of the primary suspect has lodged a complaint against the acid attack survivor's father, claiming sexual exploitation and blackmail.

This development follows an incident where a 20-year-old woman was hospitalized after being attacked with acid by an alleged stalker and his accomplices. Three individuals, including the main accused Ishan and his associate Arman, confronted the second-year college student near Lakshmibai College in northwest Delhi's Ashok Vihar. After a verbal confrontation, acid was thrown at the young woman. She instinctively raised her hands to shield her face, resulting in burns on both hands. Reports indicate that Ishan brought the acid while Arman threw it at the victim.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh stated, "She was intercepted by the accused and two associates on a motorcycle. The main accused has been identified as a resident of Mukundpur, where the woman also lives. Ishan and Arman accompanied him."

The perpetrators fled the scene immediately after the attack, and the victim was quickly transported to a nearby medical facility. Hospital authorities have reported that she sustained minor injuries, is not in critical condition, and is expected to be released soon.

Officials revealed that preliminary investigations showed the accused had been stalking the woman for several months. The three suspects, including Ishan and Arman, remain at large. Police have registered a case and are actively searching for them.

The victim's brother informed media that his sister suffered multiple acid burns. "I know one of the attackers. He stays near our home. He had been stalking my sister and she confronted him last month. We want justice, the accused should be put behind bars."

In a significant turn of events, the wife of the alleged stalker has filed a complaint against the acid attack survivor's father. She claims that while previously employed by the survivor's father, she was coerced into a relationship and subsequently blackmailed with private videos. The survivor's uncle mentioned that her father is away on business travel and has not clearly addressed these allegations. He suggested that these accusations were intended to distract from the acid attack investigation.

Police have confirmed they are investigating both the acid attack incident and the sexual assault allegations made by the main suspect's wife.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has acknowledged the acid attack and has written to Delhi Police, calling for the arrest of the accused and appropriate medical care and compensation for the survivor. "The Commission reiterates that acid attacks are among the most brutal crimes against women and must be tackled with zero tolerance and exemplary punishment," the panel has stated.
