Tragic Drowning of Two Bihar Residents During Chhath Puja Rituals in Jharkhand's Sone River

Six individuals went to bathe in the Sone river near Pokhrahi village during the Chhath festival celebrations.

Police reported that the bodies of two persons who disappeared while bathing in the Sone river during Chhath festival rituals have been recovered in Jharkhand's Palamu district.

According to a senior officer on Sunday, search operations were still ongoing for a third person who was also swept away by the river current.

The two deceased individuals were residents of Bihar, the officer confirmed.

The incident occurred when six people were bathing in the Sone river near Pokhrahi village within the Hussainabad Police Station jurisdiction during 'Kharna', one of the rituals of the four-day Chhath festival. Three of them ventured into deeper water and were carried away by the strong current, while the other three managed to swim back to shore.

Hussainabad Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sonu Kumar Chaudhary provided details about the incident.

"Divers have recovered the bodies of Ankush Paswan (22) and Adarsh Chandravansi (22), both Bihar residents. The search operation continues for Rajnish Chandravansi, who is from Pokhrahi village in Palamu district," stated Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Hussainabad) Mohammad S Yaqub.

The two deceased, Paswan and Adarsh Chandravanshi, were from Aurangabad and Gaya districts of Bihar, respectively.

They had come to visit their in-laws' homes in Palamu to participate in the Chhath festival celebrations.
