Delhi Traffic Police has implemented traffic restrictions and diversions across multiple areas of the city as thousands of devotees are expected to gather at various ghats for Chhath Puja celebrations over the next two days.

According to the official advisory, traffic flow will likely be affected from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning on roads adjacent to major Chhath Puja ponds. The public is encouraged to avoid areas near ghats and use public transport when possible.

In east and northeast Delhi, significant gatherings are anticipated at several locations including Gandhi Nagar Chhath Poojan Samiti Naav Ghat near the Old Iron Bridge, Purvanchal Nav Nirman Sangtan Ghat, and Satyamev Jayate Ghat near Geeta Colony, with each location expected to draw more than 45,000 devotees.

Heavy footfall is also expected at DND Yamuna Khadar and Chhath Ghat near Shastri Park. Traffic congestion is anticipated in areas surrounding Geeta Colony, IP Extension, and Shastri Park, as per the advisory.

Commercial vehicles will not be permitted on GT Road from Shastri Park to Yudhishthir Setu in Bhajanpura between 5 pm and 7 pm on Monday, and between 5 am and 7 am on Tuesday.

In Gandhi Nagar, Shantivan Loop and the road from Laxmi Nagar to Kailash Nagar will be closed from 5 pm to 6 pm on Monday and 5 am to 7 am Tuesday, with traffic being redirected via Disused Canal Road.

For the Khajuri Khas area, traffic toward Sonia Vihar will be diverted from Nanaksar to Old Wazirabad Road, while vehicles from Sonia Vihar Border will be directed from the MCD Toll toward Sabhapur village.

In central and north Delhi, large congregations are expected across multiple ghats, with Shyam Ghat in Jagatpur projected to attract over one lakh devotees. Substantial gatherings are also anticipated at Shani Mandir Ghat in Jagatpur and Vaasudev Ghat near ISBT.

Heavy traffic is expected along Majnu ka Tilla, Burari, Wazirabad Road, and areas surrounding the Yamuna.

For south and southeast Delhi, significant crowds are anticipated at Bhola Ghat in Kalindi Kunj, where approximately 2.5 to 3 lakh people may gather, according to police reports.

Other locations expecting large assemblies include Khasra No 1575 in Aya Nagar, Shiv Ghat near Shri Ram Chowk, and Asthal Mandir in Sangam Vihar. Traffic may move slowly along MB Road from Lal Kuan to Tughlakabad Extension, Khadar Kalindi Kunj Road, Agar Canal Road, and Road No 13.

In northwest and outer Delhi, substantial gatherings are expected at Bhalswa Lake near the Golf Course and the UP Bihar Ekta Maha Manch near Majlis Park metro station. Traffic diversions are anticipated near Bawana, Holambi Kalan, Narela, and sections of the Outer Ring Road.

For west Delhi, major congregations are expected at Surya Upasana Park in Dabri, Vishwas Park in Raja Puri, and Chhath Puja Park in Mangolpuri. Evening traffic may slow down along Raja Puri main road, Dabri-Palam road, and throughout Mangolpuri.

Officials have clarified that no restrictions will apply to routes leading to New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station, Nizamuddin Railway Station, and ISBT, though commuters should anticipate potential delays.

The public is encouraged to use Delhi Metro and other public transportation options during this period.

The advisory also states that roadside parking will not be allowed near ghats, and vehicles must be parked only in designated areas.

Motorists are requested to remain patient, adhere to traffic regulations, and cooperate with police personnel stationed at key intersections.
