Chennai:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin has alleged that the BJP-AIADMK alliance is attempting to manipulate elections through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process by purportedly eliminating names of working-class citizens, minorities, Scheduled Castes, and women from voter rolls - a strategy he declared "will not succeed in Tamil Nadu".
In correspondence to DMK party members, Stalin emphasized the importance of vigilance at every polling station to safeguard citizens' voting rights.
The Chief Minister has extended an invitation to DMK functionaries across all levels to participate in a dedicated session entitled "My Polling Booth, Winning Booth," scheduled for October 28 in Mahabalipuram.
This gathering aims to enhance booth-level operations in preparation for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections and will be personally overseen by Stalin.
In his communication, Stalin claimed that the BJP is implementing SIR to "deprive citizens of their voter rights."
"The BJP-AIADMK alliance is attempting to secure electoral victories through SIR. They are trying to remove working-class individuals, minorities, Scheduled Castes, and women from voter lists. DMK has voiced opposition to SIR and has petitioned the Election Commission. We stand ready to advocate for democratic electoral processes through both legal channels and public mobilization," Stalin stated.
He further instructed DMK members to maintain alertness at every polling station. "Regarding SIR, party workers must exercise caution. It is their responsibility to protect citizens' voting rights in each constituency," he emphasized.
The BJP, meanwhile, has justified the SIR initiative, arguing that it aims to eliminate duplicate identifications and registrations of deceased individuals.
