A tragic incident unfolded in Maharashtra when a heated dispute between spouses led to a horrific crime. The confrontation escalated after the wife departed for her parents' residence, leaving her husband with their twin daughters.
Buldhana, Maharashtra:
In a shocking case of filicide, a man from Maharashtra murdered his two-year-old twin daughters following an argument with his spouse. After his wife left during their dispute to return to her parents' home, the perpetrator took the young children to a wooded area, fatally cut their throats, and subsequently surrendered himself at a police station, confessing to the heinous act.
Police officials identified the perpetrator as Rahul Chavan from Washim district. The family had been traveling together when an intense disagreement erupted between Chavan and his wife. During this confrontation, his spouse decided to depart for her parental home, while Chavan proceeded on his journey with only the twin daughters.
Consumed by anger, Chavan transported the young girls to a forested location in Ancharwadi in Buldhana district, where he committed the atrocious act of slitting their throats.
Following the crime, Chavan drove directly to Washim police station and admitted to murdering his children. Upon his confession, law enforcement officials immediately dispatched a team to the location and recovered the bodies. Police noted that initial evidence indicated the victims' bodies appeared partially burned, suggesting Chavan might have attempted to eliminate evidence by setting fire to the remains after committing the murders.
Authorities have not yet confirmed this aspect of their investigation. Forensic examination and autopsy procedures are currently underway to establish the precise cause of death and determine whether the children were burned after they were killed.
Senior law enforcement officials, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Manisha Kadam and additional officers, visited the crime scene as part of the preliminary investigation. Police conducted a thorough site inspection, documented evidence, and began collecting forensic samples from the area.
