A criminal case has been registered against the wife, parents-in-law, and brothers-in-law of the deceased victim.
In Greater Faridabad area, a radiotherapist reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the 15th floor of his residential building where he lived with his family, police reported on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Yogesh Kumar. His uncle filed a police report alleging that Kumar's wife and in-laws had been harassing him because they opposed his mother staying with the couple.
An FIR has been registered at Bhupani police station charging five individuals—the wife, her parents, and her two brothers—with abetment to suicide.
According to police, Kumar, originally from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, worked as a radiotherapist at a private hospital in Gurugram. He had been married to Neha Rawat for nine years, and they have a six-year-old child.
Previously, the couple lived in Noida, where Neha was employed in the private sector. As stated in the complaint filed by Prakash Singh, the deceased's uncle, since both spouses were working, they struggled with childcare. Yogesh wanted his mother to live with them to help, but Neha disagreed with this arrangement.
Six months ago, Yogesh relocated to Pearl Society in Sector 87 with his child. Neha remained in Noida and did not move with them. During this period, Yogesh invited his mother to help care for his child.
"Approximately one month ago, Neha moved into the Pearl Society apartment to live with Yogesh. Upon arrival, she began objecting to Yogesh's mother staying with them. Neha's brothers, Ashish Rawat and Amit Rawat, also came to the Greater Faridabad society and engaged in arguments with Yogesh, causing him significant distress.
"On Thursday, Yogesh took Neha to his hometown in Gwalior, and while returning from there, he dropped Neha off in Noida before returning to the apartment alone. In a state of frustration, he jumped from the 15th floor of Pearl Society on Friday night and died instantly," the uncle stated in his complaint.
A case has been registered against the deceased's wife Neha Rawat, mother-in-law Shanti Rawat, father-in-law Veer Singh Rawat, and Neha's brothers Ashish and Amit Rawat. "We are conducting raids to apprehend the accused," said Inspector Sangram Dahiya, SHO of Bhupani police station.
