A woman from Bihar has captured widespread attention with her heartfelt Chhath Maiya song, affectionately referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "Modi Bhaiya." The melodious rendition titled "Bahangi Lachkat Jaye" has resonated deeply with PM Modi's supporters and is receiving appreciation across various platforms.
The timing of this viral Chhath song coincides with Prime Minister Modi's campaign activities in poll-bound Bihar. On the same day, the Prime Minister took to social media requesting people to share their Chhath songs with him.
On his X (formerly Twitter) account, PM Modi wrote: "The great festival of Chhath, dedicated to nature and culture, is approaching. Devotees across the country, including in Bihar, have already immersed themselves with full devotion in the preparations for it. The songs of Chhathi Maiya enhance the grandeur and divinity of this sacred occasion. I request you to share songs related to Chhath Puja with me as well. I will share them with all fellow citizens over the next few days."
His appeal generated an enthusiastic response, with numerous individuals posting their own Chhath songs while tagging the Prime Minister. Among these, the song referring to PM Modi as 'bhaiya' particularly captured public attention.
In the video, a group of women can be seen performing traditional Chhathi Maiya songs. One woman delivers a soulful rendition of "Bahangi Lachkat Jaye," singing "Bhara Lachkat Jaye, Bhara Lachkat Jaye, Bhaiya Jo Hoiye Modi Bhaiya. Bhara Kinkar Jaye, Bhara Kinkar Jaye, Bhara Chhathi Mai Ke Jaaye," blending traditional elements with contemporary references.
Earlier that day, PM Modi launched his Bihar election campaign with a rally in Samastipur, strategically timed with the festive atmosphere as people prepare for the Chhath Puja celebrations beginning the following day.
Chhath Puja stands as one of the most important Hindu festivals, primarily celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh. The festival also has a presence in parts of Nepal and among Indian communities worldwide.
This year, the four-day Chhath Puja celebrations will take place from Saturday, October 25, to Tuesday, October 28. The festival, also known as Surya Shashti, Dala Chhath, and Chhath Parv, embodies discipline, purity, and a profound spiritual connection with nature.
Dedicated to worshipping the Sun god and his sister Chhathi Maiya, the festival emphasizes values of purity, gratitude, and prayers for family well-being.
