Tragic Bus Fire on Hyderabad-Bengaluru Route Claims 12 Lives After Highway Collision

A private luxury bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire after colliding with a two-wheeler near Kurnool on NH-44, resulting in 12 fatalities. Twenty passengers escaped by breaking windows, while authorities continue searching for missing individuals and identifying victims.

Here's what we know so far:

A private luxury bus departed from Hyderabad to Bengaluru around midnight. At approximately 3:30 am, as the bus was traveling near Kurnool on National Highway 44 (NH-44), it collided with a two-wheeler. Police suspect that the two-wheeler became lodged beneath the bus, generating a spark that ignited the fire.

The bus was transporting 40 passengers to Bengaluru. According to sources, the driver abandoned the vehicle after the incident.

Upon noticing the fire, 20 people managed to escape by breaking the windows and jumping out of the bus.

Tragically, twelve individuals lost their lives in the accident. Approximately 20 people have been rescued and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Vikrant Patil, Superintendent of Police in Kurnool, stated that since it was an AC bus, passengers had to break the glass windows to escape. Those who succeeded in breaking the glass were able to survive the incident.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to locate missing passengers and identify the victims.
