Chhattisgarh IPS Officer and Sub Inspector's Wife Exchange Serious Harassment and Blackmail Allegations

A sub inspector's wife has filed allegations against IPS officer Ratan Lal Dangi from Chhattisgarh, claiming she experienced physical, mental, and financial harassment. Meanwhile, the officer has countered with accusations of blackmail against the woman, according to officials on Thursday.

An official statement from the police force explained: "On October 15, a complaint was received from the victim woman alleging physical, mental, and financial harassment against Ratan Lal Dangi, a 2003 batch Indian Police Service officer and Inspector General of Police. In this regard, a complaint of blackmailing by Dangi has also been filed against the woman."

The statement continued, "Considering the seriousness of the complaints, a two-member investigation committee has been formed at the police headquarters. The probe committee has Inspector General of Police Dr Anand Chhabra and Deputy Inspector General of Police Milna Kurre. Based on the report of the investigation committee, action will be taken."

In his defense, Dangi told PTI that the woman has been blackmailing him for several years and has extorted money from him during this time.

According to Dangi, the woman first approached him regarding her husband's work when Dangi was serving as Deputy Inspector General of Police in Dantewada in 2017-18.

Dangi further stated that the woman, who worked at a beauty parlor, demanded money from him in 2023 while he was posted as director of Police Training College. She allegedly threatened to circulate videos of his wife if he did not comply.

"She also threatened to commit suicide and implicate me. This woman has extorted money from me since then and has been pressuring me to separate from my wife. Frustrated by her blackmailing, I complained to the police headquarters," Dangi explained.

Attempts to reach the woman for her comments on the matter have been unsuccessful.
