Patna:
The Congress has devised a three-pronged strategy to intensify their Bihar campaign. In response to BJP claims regarding Rahul Gandhi's absence, the Grand Alliance has scheduled a joint rally featuring Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav before the first election phase.
Campaign momentum will accelerate with the arrival of senior Congress figures in the election-bound state.
Sources indicate that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will join campaign efforts in Bihar after Chhath puja, the state's most significant festival occurring on October 27.
The party plans to unveil its manifesto on October 28.
Following a prolonged period of uncertainty and seat-sharing disputes, the opposition Grand Alliance has officially named Rashtriya Janata Dal's Tejashwi Yadav as its Chief Ministerial candidate with Vikassheel Insaan Party chief Mukesh Sahani designated as deputy.
Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot made this announcement in Patna today, simultaneously criticizing the ruling NDA coalition for not yet confirming Nitish Kumar as their candidate for the top position.
"I challenge Amit Shah... our leader is Tejashwi Yadav. Now they should clarify who is their Chief Minister candidate," Gehlot remarked.
"Nitish Kumar is experiencing injustice. There has been no declaration that Nitish Kumar is the NDA's Chief Ministerial candidate. We question Amit Shah, you declared Nitish Kumar as the Chief Ministerial face before previous elections, why not this time? This is Nitish Kumar's final election. Amit Shah has made this evident," stated Tejashwi Yadav.
The Grand Alliance's display of unity emerged amid developments suggesting potential rifts before the crucial state elections - including ally Hemant Soren's decision to withdraw from the Bihar contest and announcement that his party would reassess its alliance with Tejashwi Yadav's party and the Congress.
Elections for the 243-seat Bihar assembly will be conducted on November 6 and November 11, with vote counting scheduled for November 14.
