Dehradun:
An investigation has been initiated into the tragic death of a 26-year-old woman at a private hospital in Dehradun. Officials reported on Wednesday that the death was allegedly caused by an infection resulting from a bandage left inside her abdomen during childbirth surgery.
Authorities have established a four-member committee led by Dehradun Chief Medical Officer Manoj Sharma to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatality.
The investigation committee was formed following a formal complaint submitted by the deceased woman's husband, Prajjwal Pal.
According to the complaint details, Jyoti Pal delivered a baby boy via cesarean section at the Eye and Mother Care Centre in Dehradun in January this year. The complaint alleges that medical professionals negligently left a bandage inside her abdomen before closing the surgical incision.
Following the procedure, Jyoti began experiencing severe abdominal pain within days of the delivery. She was subsequently taken back to the same healthcare facility, but physicians there were unable to identify the source of her discomfort.
As her condition deteriorated, she was transferred to another medical facility. At this second hospital, medical staff discovered that a bandage had been left inside her body, which had triggered a serious abdominal infection.
Tragically, Jyoti succumbed to complications from this severe infection.
