NHAI Deploys AI-Powered Network Survey Vehicles to Monitor 20,933 km of National Highways Across 23 States

NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) announced on Wednesday its plan to deploy Network Survey Vehicles (NSV) across 23 states, covering 20,933 km of National Highway stretches. These vehicles will collect, process, and analyze road inventory and pavement condition data with the aim of enhancing the commuting experience for travelers.

An official statement revealed that the data gathered through NSV surveys will identify deficiencies in road conditions, enabling NHAI to implement necessary corrective measures for better maintenance of National Highways.

The collected data will be uploaded to NHAI's AI-powered Data Lake portal, where a specialized team of experts will analyze it to transform raw information into actionable insights for highway management and improvement.

In accordance with Government of India guidelines, the data collected at regular intervals will be preserved for future technical purposes in the Road Asset Management system using standardized formats.

The statement further elaborated that data collection will occur for all 2/4/6 and 8-lane projects using NSV before construction begins and subsequently at regular six-month intervals.

To move forward with this initiative, NHAI has issued bids inviting qualified companies to participate in the implementation process.
