According to initial investigation, the man appeared to have been overwhelmed by substantial financial obligations.

In Chennai, a tragic incident occurred where a 45-year-old man allegedly took the lives of his 35-year-old wife and their two sons, aged 14 and 11, before committing suicide by cutting his throat at their residence, as reported by police on Wednesday.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the man, who resided in Injambakkam, may have been struggling with significant debt burdens.

"We received information about this incident at 8 this morning. We discovered a suicide note that referenced his financial debt," a police official informed PTI.

The official noted that the bodies of the wife and children were discovered with plastic covers over their faces. "However, there were no indications of a struggle. Therefore, the exact cause of death remains uncertain. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination," the official added.

Police reported that the family, originally from Salem, had been residing in Chennai and had only moved to their home in Injambakkam approximately three months ago.
