Family members broke open the door and alerted the police after the tragic discovery
In a tragic incident in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh, a 22-year-old man allegedly killed his wife before taking his own life, leaving behind a confession post on Instagram that blamed his in-laws for driving him to commit the extreme act.
The incident occurred in Hardi village under the jurisdiction of Karelibadi police chowki. The deceased were identified as Hitesh Yadav, also known as Himmat, and his 20-year-old wife, Laxmi Yadav.
According to police reports, the couple had retired to their room around 11 pm on Monday. When they failed to respond to repeated knocks on Tuesday morning, Hitesh's elder brother, Giteshwar Yadav, became concerned. Upon looking through the room's ventilation, he made the horrifying discovery of Laxmi lying motionless on the floor while Hitesh was hanging from the ceiling.
Family members immediately broke down the door and contacted authorities. Police officers along with forensic experts promptly arrived at the scene to investigate.
The preliminary post-mortem report revealed that Laxmi had been strangled with a scarf, while Hitesh had used a saree to hang himself. Police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation into the matter.
In his purported Instagram post, Hitesh wrote, "I, Himmat Yadav, have killed my wife Laxmi Yadav. There is no reason, but I did it because of her parents. I am now ending my life by hanging."
Giteshwar informed the police that Hitesh had married Laxmi, who was from Mohandi village, approximately one year ago. Notably, Laxmi was the younger sister of Giteshwar's wife. The couple had been living with Laxmi's parents in Mohandi village for several months after their marriage. They had visited Hardi on the evening of October 19 to celebrate Diwali with family members.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this murder-suicide case to understand the full context of the tragedy.
