A live-in couple was discovered deceased in their rented accommodation in Bengaluru's Jigani locality on Monday. Police investigators believe this may be a case of suicide following a domestic dispute.
The deceased have been identified as Seema Nayak, aged 25, and Rakesh Nayak, aged 23, both originally from Odisha. Rakesh was employed by a security services company, while Seema worked at a local supermarket.
According to police reports, the tragic incident likely occurred approximately two days prior to discovery. The situation came to light only when neighbors detected an unpleasant odor and noticed a lack of activity from the locked residence. Concerned by these circumstances, the neighbors broke a window to gain access and subsequently found the couple deceased inside.
Initial investigations have revealed that the couple frequently engaged in arguments, allegedly regarding Rakesh's alcohol consumption habits.
A roommate who shared the accommodation with the couple had reportedly departed on Friday following one such disagreement.
Investigators theorize that Rakesh may have taken his own life after a confrontation, after which Seema might have also died by suicide.
Law enforcement officials have registered a case and are continuing their investigation. The remains have been transferred for post-mortem examination, according to official sources.
