Gurugram:

An Air India flight safety auditor from Mumbai was discovered deceased in his room at a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Gurugram, where he had been residing for several days, according to police statements released Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Prafull Sawant. Following the postmortem examination, police officials released the body to his family members. Investigators are currently questioning the PG staff and other residents as part of their ongoing investigation into the case.

Police reports indicate that Sawant, who resided in Mumbai and worked as an Air India flight safety auditor, had been staying at Gaurav PG in Sector 30 for a short period.

According to the PG staff, Sawant returned to his room after having breakfast on Monday morning. He had transferred money to the caretaker via UPI payment for lunch. When the caretaker called Sawant to inquire about his lunch preferences, there was no response.

After multiple unanswered calls, the concerned caretaker went to Sawant's room and discovered the door locked from inside while Sawant's mobile phone continued ringing. Upon receiving notification, police personnel arrived at the location and managed to open the door, where they found Sawant deceased on his bed.

The PG accommodation staff stated that Sawant's behavior appeared normal and he had not expressed any concerns or shown signs of distress earlier that morning, according to police reports.

"No suicide note was recovered from the room. We have begun reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to gather additional information about the incident and have also interviewed other staff members and residents of the PG," stated a senior police officer handling the case.
